Chittaranjan is a railway town on the border of the Indian states of Jharkhand and West Bengal.Chittaranjan is well known for Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), manufactures of electric locomotive. It is very beautiful town surrender by ajoy river and plenty of plant.

The town is very close to nature, having a river Ajoy passing by the town, having some water dams, some hills and plenty of trees. There are so many migratory birds are seen in between the month of November to February in various reserve (Dump) of Chittaranjan. I love nature and so I love Chittaranjan. Chittaranjan is a well-known wintering ground for Great Crested Grebes. A total of 11 duck species were represented and included Common Pochards and Common Teals, species which are now hard to find in the lowlands of West Bengal.A Short documentary on migratory birds by Shri Amaritendu Roy.





Today chitaranjan is the largest maker of Electric locomotives. This is fully controlled city includes population, pollution and greenery. The main aim of Chittaranjan is to introduce its self with a neat n clean city and also pollution free. Chitaranjan is awarded a golden peacock award for environmental management in the year of 2006  by Mr. Shri Lalu prasad Yadav, Former Raiway Minister for the green city which is generally called Swarg.






AWARENESS CAMPAIGN TO STOP USE OF PLASTIC IN CHITTARANJAN TOWNSHIP BY BHARAT SCOUTS & GUIDES OF CLW:-


Use of Plastic Bags is dangers for our Environment 
The Bharat Scouts & Guides of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works(CLW) organized a plastic removal service & awareness campaign to stop use of plastic in Chittaranjan township from 27th to 30th May, 2011 with the help of Volunteers of Scout & Guides.
The Volunteers of Scout & Guides went around the township appealing to the residents in township and stall holders in the market  area by public address system and distributed leaftets not to use plastic and keep clean the environment in the township. It is hoped that this awarness drive will educate the CLW staff & their family members and also to the stall holders in the market area, not to use the Non-biodegradable plastic in Chittaranjan so that the township remains pollution free.

Chittaranjan is well known for Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), which manufactures mainline electric broad gauge locomotives.This railway town is situated on the border of the Indian states of Jharkhand and West Bengal. The town is named after the Indian freedom fighter, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das.Nearest important railway junction is Asansol, 25 km away.And it is 234km away from Kolkata, The GT road or NH-2 passes 20 km south to Chittaranjan. By road it is well connected to Asansol (30 km). A unique feature of this place is that the railway station is located at Jharkhand state (name of the place- Mihijam, district: Jamtara) whereas the township is in West Bengal.In a total area of 18.3 km2, Chittaranjan has 9,356 residential quarters, 1 hospital, 7 health units, 8 community halls, 22 railway schools and 18 non-railway schools. There is 1 college, 1 club, 1 Kendriya Vidyalaya school, 7 markets and 2 cinema halls.Chittaranjan, an ISO-14001 certified township has neatly arranged row-houses, broad and clean roads, lots of greenery and lakes. This township houses over 9300 quarters of various types and sizes for its employees of CLW. All these quarters are neatly grouped under various areas, with each area having its own Primary Health Unit (also known as a Dispensary), marketplace, school, community hall and playground. In addition to a dispensary in every area, CLW also has its own 200 bed Hospital - the Kasturba Hospital. A bird's eye view of a part of Chittaranjan Township can be had from Chittaranjan's own little hill resort - the dimunitive HillTop, located within the town limits. Chittaranjan also has two big playgrounds: The "Oval" ground and the "Srilata" Ground which holds various Sub-divisional tournaments. Chittaranjan has two multi-Sports Stadiums, two Swimming Pools, Basketball Court, Badminton Court, Lawn Tennis Court, many Football Grounds, a Gymnasium and one indoor stadium.
Chittaranjan has two movie theaters - Ranjan Cinema and Srilata Cinema. While the former screens mostly Hindi movies, the latter screens Bengali movies and the occasional Hindi movie.
Chittaranjan has many Community Halls where annual Durga Puja festival is organized and celebrated.
