The town is very close to nature, having a river Ajoy passing by the town, having some water dams, some hills and plenty of trees. There are so many migratory birds are seen in between the month of November to February in various reserve (Dump) of Chittaranjan. I love nature and so I love Chittaranjan. Chittaranjan is a well-known wintering ground for Great Crested Grebes. A total of 11 duck species were represented and included Common Pochards and Common Teals, species which are now hard to find in the lowlands of West Bengal.A Short documentary on migratory birds by Shri Amaritendu Roy.





Today chitaranjan is the largest maker of Electric locomotives. This is fully controlled city includes population, pollution and greenery. The main aim of Chittaranjan is to introduce its self with a neat n clean city and also pollution free. Chitaranjan is awarded a golden peacock award for environmental management in the year of 2006  by Mr. Shri Lalu prasad Yadav, Former Raiway Minister for the green city which is generally called Swarg.






AWARENESS CAMPAIGN TO STOP USE OF PLASTIC IN CHITTARANJAN TOWNSHIP BY BHARAT SCOUTS & GUIDES OF CLW:-


Use of Plastic Bags is dangers for our Environment 
The Bharat Scouts & Guides of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works(CLW) organized a plastic removal service & awareness campaign to stop use of plastic in Chittaranjan township from 27th to 30th May, 2011 with the help of Volunteers of Scout & Guides.
The Volunteers of Scout & Guides went around the township appealing to the residents in township and stall holders in the market  area by public address system and distributed leaftets not to use plastic and keep clean the environment in the township. It is hoped that this awarness drive will educate the CLW staff & their family members and also to the stall holders in the market area, not to use the Non-biodegradable plastic in Chittaranjan so that the township remains pollution free.
